JEANS PRICES IN UGANDA
Updated: Sep 24, 2021

Is it 20000, 25000, 30000, 35000, 40000, 50000, 60000 or 100000?
All those are different prices of jeans in Uganda.
Here I am talking mainly Kampala and I am referring to wholesale price, not the retail price, retail prices can go up to USh 250000 depending on the quality, scarcity, and brand type. I have been selling jeans in Kampala Nabugabo for over 8years now, prices of jeans have come a long way.
By the time I started in 2014 most usual casual jeans in Kampala were being sold at USh 18000 and USh 20000 to USh 25000, those days you could get good quality jeans at such a low price, the reason behind this I would say was because the taxes were low at that time and the dollar against Uganda shillings was fair too, as it was at 2500, 2600 compared to today being 3600, 3700.
These and many other factors have led to an increase in the price of jeans and most products that are imported into the country. As of now, you could buy good jeans at USh 30000 - USh 50000.
Has the jean's quality changed at all?
I would say that the quality has changed very much because those of previous years were even of better quality than those today.
Therefore the best wholesale price you could get nice jeans in Kampala today is USh 30000, but depending on the scarcity of the type you want, the demand, and different conditions, you may buy the same jeans at USh 35000, USh 40000, or even USh 50000.
A few people in Kampala now import good quality jeans because most Ugandans still can't believe jeans are that expensive, but to be honest with you if you want nice jeans, you would have to pay them for that price and that is only if you buy from the right whole sellers.
Most of these big whole sellers I am going to mention in my next post.
You could also find very high-quality jeans that could go for 60000, 70000, and 80000. These are mostly called CHAMB which means they come in one piece per design.
They are mostly imported from Pakistan and indian.
The ones I was talking about were the Normal jeans imported from China which most people put on.
